Last Saturday I saw the Lucian Freud exhibition at the Thyssen museum in Madrid. Days before I had seen some videos about that painter on YouTube, so I learned some interesting things about him and his paintings. He was born in Germany in the 1920s, was the grandson of the father of psychology, Sigmund Freud, and had to migrate to Britain with his family to escape the nazi persecution and extermination of Jews. He died in 2011 and is now considered one of the best British painters of the 20th century. The exhibition at the Thyssen Madrid is worth seeing. There are more than 30 of his paintings. I particularly liked one called “And the bridegroom”, because it shows an intimate moment between a man and a woman, sleeping naked on a bed.
El sábado pasado fui a la exposición de Lucian Freud en el museo Thyssen de Madrid. Días antes, había visto unos videos sobre ese pintor en YouTube, y me enteré de cosas interesantes sobre él y sus cuadros. Nació en Alemania en los años 20 del siglo pasado, fue el nieto del padre de la psicología, Sigmund Freud, y tuvo que emigrar al Reino Unido con su familia para huir de la persecución y exterminio de los judíos por los nazis. Murió en 2011 y se le considera actualmente uno de los mejores pintores británicos del siglo XX. Vale la pena visitar la exposición en el Thyssen de Madrid. Hay más de 30 de sus cuadros. Particularmente me gustó el cuadro “Y el novio”, porque muestra una escena íntima entre un hombre y una mujer, durmiendo desnudos en una cama.
